I spent an hour or so plodding around in inches of mud at the edge of Lake Grapevine in Grapevine, TX one afternoon circling a shrub. In the shrub a tiny, just fledged barn swallow sat watching his parents flying nearby hunting insects to feed him. When they would fly near the shrub he would poise himself with mouth gaping ready to eat. Shortly after taking a few shots of this little one, his sibling joined him on the branch. Both young birds continued to scan the area for their parents to bring them food. Eventually, Dad or Mom came flying in with a bug and one of the siblings was fed. I thought they made a beautiful pair.
