Tens of thousanads of Snow Geese congregate at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Pennsylvania in the early spring as they are migrating north. They spend each night on the lakes in the area and in the mornings take off to forage in the surrounding farmers' fields. Hundreds of photographers and wildlife enthusiasts gather here in the early morning and late evening hours each day to watch the geese lifting off and returning to roost. I was fortunate to be able to view this phenomenon this year and was awestruck by the spectacle. If you have the opportunity to see the geese migration one year I highly recommend it.
The Snow Geese at rest on the lake as the sun rises. Although the scene looks quite peaceful, the geese are honking loudly and becoming restive as light begins to fill the sky.
The geese lift off to the approbation of the large crowd gathered here to see this amazing sight.
