It's exciting to be living in Pennsylvania now! The area is so different from Texas. Rolling mountains, streams and huge forested areas make this a prime place for songbirds and woodpeckers of all varieties. While staying with my brother in Fairfield, PA, I photographed the following series of birds.

Male and Female Cardinals abound in this area.

The Downy Woodpecker - the male is distinguished by the red patch on the back of his head.

The Northern Flicker

Although larger in size, this woodpecker is shy and I only got this glimpse of him between trunks.

The Nuthatch

The Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - notice the series of little holes he has bored which are dripping sap which he eats.
